Retail Reuse
Collaboration

Through Metro's Investment and Innovation grant, WFA teamed up with Bold Reuse on a reusable grocery pilot. Consumers can drop the jars of participating local brands into a Bold Reuse drop site at any New Seasons Market. The jars are collected, sanitized, and brought back to the manufacturer to be refilled. WFA provided feedback during development, community outreach and video production services for the pilot.

Collaboration

OKAPI is a reusable cup membership service with over 30 locations in Portland, OR, and a hub in the SF Bay Area.

Through Metro's Investment and Innovation Grant, WFA teamed up with OKAPI to create community events about sustainability in the coffee industry. On Sept. 10th, the Conscious Coffee Fest brought together coffee enthusiasts, 6 local roasters, and four educational panels to discuss the complexities of sustainability in the coffee industry.

WFA aims to reduce single-use waste in its many forms, from coffee cups to food packaging to restaurant takeout.  With Oregon’s recent code update that allows restaurants and retailers to sell food in consumer-owned containers. WFA is introducing the Oregon Reduces Campaign to educate and inspire restaurants and consumers to reduce waste through reuse.  Volunteer with us to help reduce as much waste as we can! Please read more about that effort here.
