The Oregon Reduces project received a PCEF mini-grant to develop outreach materials and a standard operating procedure for restaurants to use so that they could legally accept reusable containers. Through the grant funds, we also held a roundtable with 10 restaurants to receive feedback on these materials. We also worked with dozens of volunteers to do outreach to food establishments. We offered a window cling to participating restaurants and celebrated them on social media. 

In 2024, WFA and OKAPI Reusables teamed up to create an exciting day of learning about sustainability in coffee and the delicious tastes available from the local scene. 4 panels, 6 brewers, held at the Buckman Coffee Factory.

WFA has hosted three Celebrations of Innovation from 2023-2025. We brought together the waste reduction community to meet in person so that we could honor our leaders, learn about upcoming policy and build off of the current innovations that are propelling what's possible in waste reduction today.

WFA is often a proud partner in Food Waste Prevention Week!

In 2025,  we created an Instagram campaign to offer food waste reduction tips. In 2024, we celebrated at the PSU Farmers Market by offering tips and resources and displaying how much food the average Oregon family wastes - 327 lbs of food a year. We also dressed up like fruits and vegetables and made a video asking market-goers food waste trivia. Thank you to Oregon DEQ for sponsoring our events and campaigns!

In May, 2025, we hosted our first Used Medical Drive. Working in partnership with Arc Metro and Caring Closet, we collected over 3,000lbs worth of devices like wheelchairs, walkers, and hospital beds so that they could be redirected to seniors in need for free! Often these items are difficult to donate and unnecessarily become waste. This event was made possible through sponsorship from Metro's Regional Refresh Fund.
